My name is Sophie Randolph.

I am:

  • a recovering founder

A little more about me…

I’m originally from the Berkshires in Western Massachusetts, spent my college years in Cambridge, MA attending Harvard, and living/working/studying abroad in Haiti and the Dominican Republic.

After graduating, I did a two-year stint in San Francisco before making my way to Texas. I worked for Xola in both San Francisco and Houston helping tour and activity companies get more bookings online.

For the past few years, I’ve run my own businesses, building the tools that let touring entertainers be their own business managers. Most notably, I launched Green Room while getting my MBA at Rice and went through Techstars Music, and raised $1M. Alas, the long tail market is a bit too long tail to sustain as a full-time business and I wound Green Room down in 2023.

Now I’m back at Rice’s entrepreneurship program (Lilie) as clinical faculty. I’m supporting student founders by teaching entrepreneurship courses and helping manage Lilie’s summer programs.

My hobbies include:

  • dancing two-step

  • listening to & making music

  • playing soccer

  • cooking (and eating)

  • traveling off the beaten path

  • tending to my houseplants

  • hiking to and jumping off of waterfalls

I am a recovering founder that brings together the best of knowhow gathered by flying by the seat of my pants at scrappy startups and the knowledge acquired at Rice (MBA) and Harvard (undergrad) to build badass teams and processes and achieve lofty goals. I get all that done with a healthy dose of humor, sass (and SaaS), grace, and humility. I’m excited to blend my past experiences and skillset to help empower the next generation of founders at Rice University.
